Agilent HP E4438C ESG digital and analog  ultra high performance Signal Generator 100 kHz – 6 GHz on its main band and DC to 1 Mhz using the low band output on front !!

When I first got it I was like what’s with the knob!;? But the. After using it I fell in love with it and decided to keep it. It works much better than the original. But if you want I can include the original as well.

Options 506 and unj (massive phase noise improvement and lower spurious!!!! By using yig yto instead of vcos ) )it’s not standard in the e4438c model….. . And it’s fairly uncommon as well so grab it while it’s here! Also included higher power and mechanical attenuator getting -136 dbm range!!! Up to 15db(and even higher like around 18 db!)

This  is ultra low phase noise ( and I mean the lowest you can find unless it’s an E8257d with unx)and reduced spurious and harmonics  due to yig tuned oscillator yto instead of switched vcos source.. Condition is refurbished with a 2nd  lcd display!!!

This is the coveted e4428/38c line not to be confused with the cheaper esg line . The parts and programming are all the same between these more expensive models like the e8257d where its standard on all of them within the 28c model line to have ytos for superior phase noise performance and overall spectral purity! With the 38c digital models you need unj for that performance grade.

This one comes calibrated with NIST cert and meets all spec including max and min power, flatness, power and frequency accuracy, linearity, harmonics, spurious, phase noise, attenuator steps, dynamic range, 10 mhz reference ins and outputs, etc… i believe we have the software to provide a comprehensive data report as well for an additional 300$.

Power accuracy is within .2 dbm! Insane accuracy! Attenautor steps are all accurate as well!.. it has built in analog  internal modulations plus an IQ modulator for digital.

Very little use tho there is a substantial amount of on time. Passes all self tests and no errors! It looks to be well maintained over it’s life.
